Well, I don't know whether to scream or cry

I work from home and my simming PC is the one I use as it' is the only one I have. I had been having some systemic issues according to my job's help desk and they kept screwing with things and basically took over control of my computer. I kept trying to explain that I'm pretty savvy and if you let me know what to do I can do it. But apparently women aren't computer literate.

Long story short my registry was screwed up and no matter what I tried I couldn't get anything to work. I did a system restore after trying everything else I could think of. I really didn't mind because my external backs up everything 3 times a week. Or so I thought, apparently he disabled all my usb ports in device manager and my external wasn't even connected.

I lost everything I'd worked on for oh say the last 2 weeks. Which means that I get to rebuild my vintage meshes. I can't find my back ups of any thing either possibly because I've done a spring cleaning of my PC.  I've not been a happy camper since yesterday.

Forgive me for venting, but no one else would understand the devastation I feel right now unless they're a part of the community.

I'm going to continue to hunt for back up and hopefully they are in some cranny I've not explored yet.

Dude. Dude. That's horrible. I'm so sorry.

Any chance of getting ahold of that guy's supervisor? Treating you as inept because you're a woman was bad enough, but screwing up your computer to that extent means he has no business working in a support capacity. Maybe that sounds harsh, but I used to do tech support and repair; I hold tech support to the same standard I held myself to.

I'm the same way with customer service, so I don't feel that's harsh.

I reported it to my supervisor and her supervisor. I doubt that it will make any difference because every tech that I've spoken to there (at least 6) have been that way. I just discovered that he also disabled my system speakers and microphone. I fixed them but now my web cam won't work. I'm so freaking pissed to no end. I do believe I'll be looking for another job come tomorrow.

This is just really the straw that broke this camel's back. I've had nothing but problems with them and they always say that it's on my end even though my system was fine before they started missing with it. Not to mention that their software runs in the background like spyware whether it's open or not. Again sorry for venting but I just don't understand how they can consider treating employees this way and think that it's ok. I'm one of 5 that is remaining from a 30 student training class. I've tried to hang on but I just can't deal with them screwing up my computer and then I have to pay to get it fixed.

Venting is fine! I don't mind a bit, and I totally understand. Their behavior is beyond the pale, especially since you had to provide your own equipment and have to spend your own money to fix it when it breaks oh-so-mysteriously after their 'support' sticks their grubby little fingers in it. If the problems were really on your end, they'd be able to give you definite answers as to why and how to prevent it.

Oh man, that sucks! I'm really sorry that happened Jacci! Computers are great when they are working, but when they crash, they can be hell :/

Oh no - that really sucks. I know how you feel like - I absolutely hate computers that which think they need to punish us for using them all day long.

That really is the pits - they screw up your computer, but you have to carry the cost of getting it fixed?! I'm so sorry, Jacci - I can well understand your frustration, and your need to vent. I really hope that a) you get the computer functioning again and b) you find your backups. Best of luck!

I have it mostly fixed, but I'm about to give up on the back ups and just start again. Besides I discovered Amaryll made a dress very similar to the shirt waist I was working on so when I redo the shoes I can just put them on her mesh. Something good did come of this.

That is ridiculous, as your employer the company ought to know better than to let something like that happen to their workers. I hope you get everything fixed up soon. I'm so sorry about the loss of data having to start all your projects over sounds devastating. I read in the comments that you doubt the supervisors will help you out. I agree that you should find somewhere else to work, that is just unacceptable.

Oh they've not even replied to my last two emails that have screen shots attached. I'm on the hunt for something else.
